Trump Signs Orders to Bolster U.S. Role in AI

(MENAFN) In a move to enhance the United States' position in the international artificial intelligence (AI) landscape, U.S. President Donald Trump endorsed three executive directives on Wednesday.

These directives are designed to advance the country's technological leadership and ensure its continued superiority in the fast-evolving AI sector.

During a meeting with technology executives and public officials in Washington, Trump emphasized the importance of domestic tech companies prioritizing national interests.

He urged them to "be all in for America" and stated, "We want you to put America first," a familiar phrase tied to his foreign policy agenda.

Trump committed to transforming the national framework to benefit the tech industry.

He declared, "My administration will use every tool at our disposal to ensure that the United States builds and maintains the largest, most powerful and most advanced AI infrastructure anywhere on the planet."

He further highlighted the necessity for modern infrastructure to support this ambition.

"America needs new data centers, new semiconductor and chip manufacturing facilities, new power plants and transmission lines," he explained.

"And under my leadership, we're going to get that job done, and it's going to be done with certainty and with environmental protection and all of the things that we have to do to get it done properly."

The newly signed executive orders aim to streamline the approval process for building AI data hubs, support the international distribution of U.S.-developed AI frameworks, and guarantee that AI tools backed by the government remain "ideologically neutral," as described by a senior Trump official.

These actions were formalized shortly after the White House introduced Trump’s AI "action plan," a comprehensive strategy focused on securing the country’s "global dominance" in the AI sector.

A central part of the initiative involves easing environmental restrictions that could hinder progress in the energy-intensive field and encouraging the international sale of U.S.-based AI technologies.
