Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Plant Restored to Power Grid—IAEA
According to the agency, the disruption lasted nearly three days, making it one of the longest recent power interruptions at the facility.
The plant had lost access to a 330-kilovolt line on Wednesday night following reported damage on the opposite side of the Dnipro River. As a result, the facility was forced to depend on emergency diesel generators to provide the electricity required for cooling its six shut-down reactors.
The IAEA noted that this marked the 19th occasion in which the plant has lost all external power since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.
The agency also said it continues to monitor repair work at the Zaporizhzhya Thermal Power Plant switchyard, along with de-mining operations in a nearby frontline area. These efforts are aimed at enabling the restoration of the main 750 kV Dniprovska power line, which has remained disconnected since March, according to the statement.
